Watch: Iraqi patient plays oud, sings while doctors remove his brain tumour
Hearing Umm Kolthum's iconic song "Enta Omri" echo through an operating room while doctors in blue scrubs delicately remove a brain tumor is far from ordinary—but in Iraq, it became a remarkable reality. The story began when an Iraqi patient named Mohammed, who had been battling a brain tumor, sought treatment in several countries. Yet, time and again, doctors told him there was no hope for a cure. However, doctors at Hayat International Hospital in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul performed a delicate operation to help Mohammed. In addition to this, they agreed to his wish to hold on to his oud during the operation and play music. Although some may argue that Mohammed took his hobby a bit far, but doctors confirmed that the melodies and the singing were sending assurance messages to the team throughout the whole process. "Despite the complexity of the surgery, we worked with confidence… because his music was telling us: ' I'm okay'," the hospital said in a statement. In a clip shared by the hospital, Mohammed, who comes from the city of Zakho, is seen laying on a bed singing comfortably amid the operation. Take a look: Calling the incident "a rare success story—inspiring and profoundly human in every sense of the word", the hospital said the unsual surgery was led by surgeon Dr Yahya Abdul Razaq Al-Juhaishi and anesthesiologist Dr Mohammed Thanon Hamed. The oud was sterilized, along with all mobile phones used to film the clips, it emphasized. In another clip showing preparations before the surgery, Mohammed is seen chatting with doctors and moving his feet. Later on, he is shown walking and hugging some of the hospital's staff members to thank them. Take a look: In a recent similar case, a patient at a British hospital was allowed to play the violin while a tumour was removed from her brain back in 2020. The decision to let Dagmar Turner, 53 play music during the surgery aimed to help surgeons protect both her ability to perform and her 40-year passion for the instrument.

Husband's disgusting act after his wife was diagnosed with brain cancer: 'What the hell was going on'
A woman battling cancer has shared heartbreaking messages from her husband, who left her and took all their who is undergoing treatment for a brain tumour, said her condition has been severe, involving multiple surgeries and treatments. 'My husband of six years up and vanished, drained our mutual account and sent me this when I asked what the hell was going on,' she wrote on a post shared to social media. Despite her illness, she remained devoted to her husband. 'My condition is foul, I've had multiple surgeries, treatments, etc … But I've always been faithful, I still cooked him dinners up until this happened. He's pretty convinced I'm dead to rights, I personally think I have a chance …' Alongside her post, Marie included an MRI scan showing the tumour and a text message from her husband explaining why he left. 'Listen, it's been hard, I can't handle watching you die,' the message read. 'I feel alone, I feel trapped, I'm not sure where or what I'm going to do … I've invested a lot during your treatment so I'm recouping what I put in plus extra for my future. I can still have one.' He went on to tell Marie she should 'be happy for me, that I can live for us both.' He also sent her three disturbing videos, then appeared on camera holding a bottle of wine while talking about another woman 'She is the one that makes me happy. Everything, she meets my needs and you don't and you won't and you haven't,' he said. 'I'm at the point now where I'm feeling alone when I'm with you, and small.' A recent study published in The Times revealed men were more likely to leave their wives after a cancer diagnosis. The study looked at more than 25,000 couples across 27 countries during an 18-year period and found that divorce was more likely when the wife was sick. And if it was the husband who had health issues, the couple was no more likely to split than if both were healthy. Professor Alex Broom, a sociologist at the University of Sydney, said the findings highlight a troubling imbalance in caregiving within relationships. 'Research has often shown that women bear the brunt of caring responsibilities at both ends of life - the early years and the twilight years,' he told 'But also, that the men in their lives can be ill-equipped to provide them with care and support when they need it, whether in the context of serious illness or at the end of life.' 'The reality is, women do a disproportionate amount of informal caring, and receive less, on average, themselves -often at critical moments.'

The Bold and the Beautiful spoilers: Bill's plan for Liam?
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. When Bill arrived at the hospital in the July 11 episode of The Bold and the Beautiful, he was shocked to discover how angry everyone was at him when all he wanted to do was to see Liam. This week's spoilers reveal that he'll be stealing Liam away from the hospital, but why? What causes him to take action? What's his plan, and will he end up helping or hurting Liam in the long run? Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) got the shock of his life upon showing up at the hospital. He'd been alerted that Liam (Scott Clifton) was shot, but he wasn't expecting to learn that Luna (Lisa Yamada) was responsible for it. He was immediately met by a hostile Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood), who wanted Bill to know that none of this would have happened if he hadn't pulled strings to get Luna released from prison. All Bill wanted was to see his son. He was shocked and devastated to learn he'd been shot — and he still has no idea that his son was already dying from an inoperable brain tumor. In this week's spoilers, it is revealed that Liam goes under the knife again, this time with Grace (Cassandra Creech). By Thursday's episode, Bill 'whisks an unconscious Liam away from the hospital' and that's that. Now, given that Finn (Tanner Novlan) was the one to remove the bullet when Liam initially arrived at the hospital, we have to wonder whether Grace's operation is tied to the brain tumor and that's the reason Bill decides to continue Liam's care elsewhere. Dollar Bill clearly has a plan here — it's not like he's making a decision to care for Liam at home because that would be foolish. It seems like Bill may have learned about his son's condition (probably through Hope, who was urging Liam to tell Bill) and then he made some calls to find out where his son could receive the best care. And then, regardless of medical advice, he made the decision to move Liam to wherever he needed to be to get the best care possible. Bill is known for being impulsive. It didn't help learning that his son was injured because of a decision he made to try to help Luna, but instead of admitting he was wrong, he's going to focus on doing whatever he can to fix things. And helping his son to survive is the first order of business. The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS and the following day on Paramount Plus.
